Health Exchange has been delivering health promotion activities across Solihull for the past two years. During that time, we have built good working relationships with pharmacies, GP surgeries and community organisations such as SIAS, Aquarius, Three Trees, Bosworth Community Centre and Libraries. We started with a Health Trainer service, which has been joined by a Social Prescribing service and NHS Health Checks.
Solihull Health Trainer Service
Our Health Trainer Service is one of our core offers and involves recruiting and training local people to deliver advice about health and wellbeing to others in their communities. This is a non-clinical service, but rooted in NHS guidelines for prevention and management of a range of lifestyle-related illnesses and conditions. We are funded by Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council to provide a service of wellbeing and lifestyle support, with particular emphasis on residents living in North Solihull.
Social Prescribing Service
This service aims to to encourage people over 16 years of age to engage with non-medical activities that can improve their health and wellbeing. We maintain a comprehensive database, which residents can use to search for activities near them, including sports and leisure groups, classes and clubs.
NHS Health Checks
We offer Health Checks for those aged between 40 and 74 who live or have a GP in Solihull. This service has supported and underpinned both Health Trainer and Social Prescribing services to give people a clearer picture of how improvements to their health and wellbeing can be brought about with a few small changes.
We also operate EC Health out of our Solihull base, to develop and train individuals nationally and internationally in utilizing a standardized holistic assessment to support the needs of older people. This is an emerging area of work and will grow over the coming 12 months.
