The Body Mind and Spirit Partnership (Birmingham) is a coming together of 17 organisations delivering services for older people and is supported by Health Exchange and EC Health. The Partnership was formed in response to a shift in elderly adult care in Birmingham to prevention outcomes as part of Birmingham City Council’s Third Sector Commissioning Prospectus 2012 – 2014, which links to the Department of Health’s Adults Social Care Outcomes Framework (ASCOF) nationally. It aims to better support the health and wellbeing of elderly residents in Birmingham. Of the 17 partners, 13 are delivering services and four are developing services which meet the new national Adult Social Care Outcomes Framework (ASCOF) health prevention guidelines for older people.
The Partnership was successful in acquiring funding to cover delivery and transitional activities, with work beginning in October 2012 and running to March 2016. This enabled it to develop a model of empowerment of elders and asset based support in localities that has been submitted for funding from July 2016 to March 2018.
